PLANNING PERMISSION FOR DEVELOPMENT SOUGHT

As of the 17th May a planning application has been submitted for the development of part of the fallow area (originally set aside for development) adjacent to Torville Drive and all the working allotments adjacent to Pembury and Ewell Roads (all the 'P' area).

The area to be developed was changed to the above area by a near unanimous vote of the Association Shareholders as being the best opportunity to be granted outline planning permission on advice from our developers after consultation with the Council last year. The area put forward is an amalgamation of options one and two of the Council's public consultation of 2011.

Please see the application at the following address:

  1. Think about all the enjoyment you have had from your allotments
over your lifetime and now think about the young generation
who will be denied this opportunity forever,
Remember that the allotments were handed to you
with the expectation that you would in turn hand them on
to the next generation to enjoy, you are guardians
    for the younger generations future,
    don't take the selfish route,
be proud and honorable and don't sell out.

  2. Did you actually look at the plans? Did you see that well over half the area used for allotments will remain and be improved so that people actually may want to use them? There will be a greater number of more manageable plots which might encourage the young generation to take up an allotment and stick with it rather than giving up after the first month of digging as is generally the case at present. Also, the site will be made more secure so that the people who use the allotments can do so with some degree of safety, rather than being confronted with youths and vagrants who tresspass on to the site and can also leave equipment in their sheds without wondering whether it will still be there the next day. Where do you expect the shareholders to get the money to do such improvements without selling part of the land? This is why the shareholders have agreed to sell part of the land.

Why not just admit that you don't want houses at the back of your house on Torville Drive? It would be far more honest than the sentimental tosh you've posted here.

  3. What bullshit. The development is neither needed or wanted by 99% of Wollaton residents. The allotments have been deliberately let fall into disrepair to assist the pkanning application.the only people who want this developnent are commercial estates group and a bunch of greedy allotment shareholders looking to make sone free money. The fact that Wollaton will suffer from the destruction of open space, increase in traffic, pressure on local services and damage to wildlife doesnt matter to these selfish people.
